Important Safety Warnings
Power Off Operation: Before any disassembly or installation work, be sure to disconnect the negative battery terminal to prevent short circuits.
Torque Specifications: Strictly follow the torque values specified in the vehicle's repair manual when tightening all bolts and nuts. Insufficient torque may cause loosening or damage, while excessive torque may lead to thread stripping or component breakage.
Wire Harness Connection: Ensure all electrical connections are secure and free of damage to prevent poor contact or short circuits.
Professional Tools: Use the correct tools for the job to avoid damage caused by using oversized or undersized tools.
Environmental Safety: Ensure the working environment is well-ventilated and free from fire and flammable materials.
I. Pre-Installation Preparation
Tools Preparation
Wrenches, sockets, screwdrivers
Torque wrench (for tightening critical components)
Pliers (for wire harness securing)
Gloves and safety goggles (to protect hands and eyes)
Component Inspection
Check the appearance of the new generator to ensure there is no damage or deformation.
Inspect the generator's plug and terminals to ensure they are intact.
Check the belt for damage, cracks, or signs of aging.
Vehicle Preparation
Park the vehicle on a flat, safe surface.
Engage the parking brake to ensure vehicle stability.
Disconnect the negative battery cable (black).
II. Installation Steps
Locating the Generator
Removing the Old Generator (if replacing)
Remove the Belt: Use a wrench or specialized tool to loosen the fixing bolt of the belt tensioner, then release the tensioner to slacken the belt for removal.
Remove the Wire Harness: Locate the wire plug connected to the generator, press the release clip on the plug, and unplug it from the generator.
Remove the Mounting Bracket Bolts: Use a socket wrench to loosen the two bolts securing the generator to its mounting bracket (usually 10mm or 12mm in size).
Remove the Old Generator: Carefully remove the old generator from its mounting position.
Installing the New Generator
Install the Generator: Place the new generator onto the mounting bracket, ensuring its position matches that of the old generator.
Tighten the Mounting Bracket Bolts: Hand-tighten the two mounting bracket bolts into the threaded holes, then use a torque wrench to tighten them to the specified torque value from the vehicle's repair manual.
Install the Wire Harness: Align the new generator's wire plug with the position of the old plug, insert it firmly, and ensure the clip is locked in place.
Install the Belt: Properly route the new belt around the generator pulley, water pump pulley (if applicable), and tensioner.
Tension the Belt: Press the belt by hand to check the tension. The ideal deflection is approximately 10-15mm when pressing the center of the belt with your thumb. Then tighten the tensioner fixing bolt.
Inspection and Adjustment
Check the Installation: Recheck that the generator is securely mounted and all bolts are properly tightened.
Check the Wire Harness: Ensure all wire harness connections are correct, secure, and free of looseness or damage.
Check the Belt: Ensure the belt is installed correctly without twisting or binding.
Adjust Belt Tension: If the belt tension is not appropriate, loosen the tensioner fixing bolt, reposition the belt, and then tighten the fixing bolt.
Power-On Test
Reconnect the Negative Battery Terminal: Reattach the negative battery cable (black) to the battery and ensure a secure connection.
Start the Engine: Insert the key into the ignition switch, turn it to the "ON" position, and then start the engine.
Check Generator Operation:
After starting, observe the charging indicator light on the dashboard. If the generator is working properly, the charging indicator light should turn off.
Run the engine for a few minutes and check for abnormal noises, overheating, or oil leaks from the generator.
Use a multimeter to measure the battery voltage. At idle, the voltage should be between 13.5V-14.5V; at high engine speed, it should be between 13.8V-14.8V.
Pre-Installation Precautions
