1. Pre-installation Preparation
Tools and Materials
Safety and Environment
Park the vehicle securely, engage the parking brake, and disconnect the negative battery terminal; support the transmission and flywheel end properly to prevent tipping.
Ensure the work area is clean and dust-free; place parts in the order of disassembly and mark them for matching.
2. Removal of Old Parts (Brief)
Remove the transmission assembly, use T10028 to lock the flywheel, and loosen the 6 pressure plate fixing bolts diagonally step by step and discard them.
Remove the clutch cover and driven plate, take off the release bearing and guide sleeve, check the flywheel face runout (≤0.10mm) and pressure plate flatness (measured at 4 points with a try square + feeler gauge, flatness ≤0.15mm; replace if exceeding the limit).
Clean the flywheel positioning pins, guide bearing bore, and release fork shaft to remove oil, rust, and impurities.
3. Installation Steps (Core Operations)
| Step | Operation Points | Technical Requirements |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Lubrication Preparation | Apply specified grease to the release bearing guide sleeve; coat the driven plate spline with a thin, even layer of grease to avoid accumulation |
| 2 | Centering Installation | Insert T22001 into the driven plate center hole to ensure concentricity between the driven plate and pressure plate; align the pressure plate positioning pins with the flywheel positioning holes, with the driven plate damper plate facing the pressure plate side |
| 3 | Bolt Pre-tightening | Install 6 new bolts, hand-tighten until there is no gap, ensuring the pressure plate fits evenly with the flywheel |
| 4 | Torque Tightening | Use T10028 to lock the flywheel, tighten in 3 steps diagonally in groups (1→4→2→5→3→6) to the standard torque of 25Nm (Isuzu standard torque; refer to the model manual for details) |
| 5 | Release Bearing Assembly | Install the release bearing, ensuring smooth sliding on the guide sleeve without jamming; apply a small amount of grease to the contact point between the release fork and bearing |
| 6 | Assembly Reset | Remove T22001, reinstall the transmission assembly, and tighten the transmission-to-flywheel housing connecting bolts to the specified torque |
4. Key Inspection and Adjustment
Rotation Check: Rotate the pressure plate to confirm no jamming of the driven plate and no abnormal noise from the release bearing; the diaphragm spring face runout ≤0.20mm.
Clearance and Travel: After installation, check the clearance between the release bearing and diaphragm spring (2.0-3.0mm), and ensure the clutch pedal free travel complies with the vehicle model specifications (usually 15-25mm).
Test Run: Start the engine, test idle speed in neutral for no abnormal vibration; ensure smooth gear shifting without incomplete disengagement or slipping during engagement.
1. Safety Operation Precautions
Vehicle Fixation and Power Off
Before installation, the vehicle must be parked on a level surface, the parking brake engaged, and wheel chocks installed at the front/rear wheels; disconnect the negative battery terminal to prevent accidental contact with the starting circuit during installation.
A dedicated bracket must be used to support the transmission when removing/installing it; do not lift it by hand (the transmission is heavy and may cause personal injury or component damage).
Standard Use of Tools
A torque wrench (accuracy ≥±3%) must be used to tighten bolts; do not directly tighten with an adjustable wrench or air impact wrench (this may cause excessive torque and bolt stretch/deformation).
The flywheel locking tool (e.g., T10028) must fully clamp the flywheel ring gear to avoid flywheel rotation during pressure plate bolt tightening, which could lead to thread stripping.
2. Assembly Accuracy Precautions
Key Points of Driven Plate Centering
A dedicated centering tool (T22001) must be used to position the driven plate; if the centering deviation exceeds 0.5mm, the transmission input shaft cannot be installed, or the clutch will vibrate and make abnormal noise after startup.
The driven plate must not be installed reversely: the damper plate (spring-side) must face the pressure plate. Reversed installation will result in insufficient release stroke, difficulty in gear shifting, and even burnout of the driven plate friction lining.
Bolt Tightening Requirements
The pressure plate fixing bolts are one-time self-locking bolts and must be replaced with new ones after removal (reuse may cause bolt loosening and pressure plate detachment accidents).
The tightening sequence must strictly follow the "diagonal step-by-step tightening" method: first pre-tighten to 5Nm, then to 15Nm, and finally to the standard torque of 25Nm (Isuzu original factory specification). Single-step tightening or disorderly tightening is strictly prohibited (this may cause pressure plate warping and excessive flatness deviation).
3. Component Protection and Cleaning Precautions
Cleaning Requirements
The flywheel, pressure plate friction surface, and driven plate friction lining must be kept absolutely clean and free from oil or grease (even a small amount of oil will cause clutch slippage and early failure of the friction lining).
Use a residue-free cleaner (e.g., isopropyl alcohol) for cleaning; do not use gasoline or diesel (they leave impurities and are flammable and explosive).
Lubrication Specifications
Only apply the specified high-temperature grease (Isuzu 97000-25010) to the driven plate spline groove, release bearing guide sleeve, and release fork contact points. The application amount must be "thin and even" to avoid excessive splashing onto friction surfaces.
Do not apply grease to the diaphragm spring surface or pressure plate release finger contact surfaces (this may cause release bearing jamming and abnormal noise).
4. Post-Installation Verification Precautions
Static Inspection
After installation, manually rotate the pressure plate to confirm no jamming of the driven plate and smooth sliding of the release bearing on the guide sleeve; use a feeler gauge to check the release fork stroke and ensure it meets vehicle model requirements.
