Installation Method for Isuzu Truck Clutch Pressure Plate (Size: 300×190×350mm)
I. Pre-installation Preparation
Tool Preparation
Special tools: Clutch centering tool (matched with the driven disc spline), torque wrench, special socket for pressure plate fixing bolts.
General tools: Phillips/flathead screwdriver, socket set, crowbar, brass hammer.
Parts and Material Preparation
Confirm that the clutch pressure plate model matches the vehicle model, and the size of 300×190×350mm must be fully compatible with the flywheel and driven disc.
Prepare new clutch pressure plate fixing bolts, lock washers, and pilot bearing (if replacement is needed).
Prepare lint-free cloth for cleaning, special cleaning agent (to remove oil stains on parts surfaces), and high-temperature grease (for applying to splines and pilot bearing).
Parts Cleaning and Inspection
Clean the flywheel surface, pressure plate friction surface, and driven disc friction plate with cleaning agent, ensuring no oil stains remain, otherwise clutch slippage will occur.
Check the flywheel surface for cracks, wear grooves, and warping deformation; the end face runout must comply with the original factory standard (generally ≤0.2mm).
Check the pressure plate diaphragm spring for deformation and breakage, and whether the release fingers are excessively worn; check the driven disc splines for rust and wear, and whether the rivets are loose.
II. Installation Steps
Install the Pilot Bearing (if not installed)
Apply high-temperature grease to the new pilot bearing, then press it smoothly into the flywheel center hole using a press tool. Do not strike directly with a hammer to avoid damaging the bearing.
Place the Driven Disc and Pressure Plate
Place the clutch driven disc flat on the flywheel friction surface, paying attention to the installation direction of the driven disc: the side with damping springs or marked "FLYWHEEL SIDE" must face the flywheel. Incorrect installation will cause incomplete clutch disengagement.
Put on the clutch centering tool and insert it into the driven disc spline and pilot bearing to ensure the driven disc is centered—this is a key step in the installation process.
Cover the driven disc with the clutch pressure plate and align the pressure plate fixing bolt holes with the flywheel bolt holes.
Fasten the Pressure Plate Bolts
Install the pressure plate fixing bolts and lock washers, and tighten them in a cross-symmetrical sequence (e.g., 1-3-5 clockwise, 2-4-6 counterclockwise) in 2–3 gradual steps.
Tighten the bolts strictly in accordance with the original factory torque standard. For Isuzu pressure plates of the same specification, the bolt torque is generally 25–35N·m (refer to the vehicle-specific service manual for exact values). Over-tightening is prohibited to prevent bolt breakage or pressure plate deformation.
Remove the Centering Tool
After the bolts are fully tightened, pull out the clutch centering tool smoothly and check that the pressure plate and driven disc are tightly fitted with no looseness.
III. Subsequent Assembly (After Installing the Clutch Assembly)
Align the transmission input shaft with the driven disc spline, push the transmission in smoothly, and connect and secure it to the engine flywheel housing.
Install the clutch release fork and release bearing. Apply a small amount of high-temperature grease to the release bearing to ensure the release fork moves smoothly without jamming.
Connect the clutch pedal pull rod or hydraulic pipeline, bleed air from the hydraulic pipeline, and adjust the pedal free travel to the original factory standard (generally 10–20mm).
Installation Precautions for Isuzu Truck Clutch Pressure Plate (Size: 300×190×350mm)
1. Cleaning Control
Before installation, the flywheel friction surface, pressure plate friction surface and driven disc friction plate must be cleaned with a special cleaning agent. No oil stains, iron filings or dust shall be left, otherwise faults such as clutch slippage, jitter and abnormal noise will occur.
Do not touch the friction plate surface directly with hands, because the grease on hands will adhere to the friction surface and reduce the friction coefficient.
Cleaned parts shall be wiped dry with lint-free cloth to avoid fiber residue affecting the fitting accuracy.
2. Requirements for Direction and Centering
The installation direction of the driven disc must not be wrong: the side with damping springs or marked "FLYWHEEL SIDE" must face the flywheel. Incorrect installation will lead to incomplete clutch disengagement, heavy pedal and failure to shift gears.
A clutch centering tool must be used to ensure that the driven disc is coaxial with the flywheel and pressure plate. Otherwise, the transmission input shaft cannot be installed smoothly, and forced installation will damage the splines and bearings.
The centering tool shall be removed only after the pressure plate bolts are fully tightened, and it is strictly prohibited to pull it out in advance.
3. Bolt Tightening Specifications
The pressure plate fixing bolts shall be tightened in a cross-symmetrical sequence (e.g., for 6 bolts, follow the order of 1-4-2-5-3-6), and the tightening shall be carried out gradually in 2–3 steps to avoid pressure plate warping and deformation caused by one-time tightening.
Strictly follow the original factory torque standard (25–35N·m, refer to the vehicle-specific service manual for exact values). Insufficient torque will cause bolt loosening, while excessive torque will result in bolt breakage and pressure plate deformation.
Lock washers must be installed, and reusing old bolts is prohibited to prevent bolt fatigue failure.
4. Parts Inspection and Replacement
Before installation, check the flywheel end face runout, whose standard value is generally ≤0.2mm. If the runout exceeds the standard, the flywheel shall be ground or replaced, otherwise clutch jitter will occur.
Check the wear condition of the release fingers of the pressure plate diaphragm spring. If the end face wear of the release fingers exceeds 0.5mm, the pressure plate shall be replaced; check the height difference of the release fingers, and if the difference exceeds 0.3mm, correction shall be made.
The pilot bearing shall be pressed in after being coated with high-temperature grease. Do not strike the bearing directly with a hammer to prevent damage to the internal raceway of the bearing.

Corresponding Explanations of Key Clauses and Sources
- Cleaning ControlDerived from the chapter "Parts Cleaning and Assembly Environment Requirements" in the Isuzu Original Factory Service Manual, which clearly states that residual oil stains on friction surfaces will cause slippage. It also complies with the "lint-free cleaning" requirement specified in the Technical Specifications for Disassembly and Assembly of Commercial Vehicle Clutches issued by the industry association.
- Direction and CenteringBased on the "driven disc orientation marking" (the side marked "FLYWHEEL SIDE" shall face the flywheel) and the "mandatory regulations for the use of centering tools" in the Isuzu Manual, as well as the "coaxiality assembly requirement" in the industry specifications.
- Bolt Tightening SpecificationsThe original factory torque parameter (25–35N·m) and cross-symmetrical tightening sequence (e.g., 1-4-2-5-3-6 for 6 bolts) are sourced from the chapter "Pressure Plate Fixing Bolt Tightening Process" in the Isuzu Manual. The requirements for one-time use of lock washers and bolts are in line with the Technical Specifications for Disassembly and Assembly of Commercial Vehicle Clutches issued by the industry association.
- Parts Inspection StandardsParameters such as flywheel end face runout (≤0.2mm), diaphragm spring release finger wear (≤0.5mm), and release finger height difference (≤0.3mm) are all derived from the chapter "Clutch Component Inspection Standards" in the Isuzu Original Factory Service Manual.
- Release Mechanism AssemblyRequirements including the dosage of grease for release bearings, clearance requirements for release forks, and pedal free travel (10–20mm) are sourced from the chapter "Clutch Control System Assembly and Adjustment" in the Isuzu Manual.
- Running-in After InstallationThe requirements for idling test and low-speed running-in (500km) comply with the "Acceptance Process After Clutch Assembly" specified in the general maintenance process of the automotive industry.
